BOTOX OR FILLER - WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Botox smooths, Fillers add volume

The key difference between the two cosmetic treatments is that Botox softens and inactivates specific damaging muscles to smooth out skin, whilst fillers add volume to the tissues. It is as simple as that. If you imagine that your face can be compared to a balloon that has lost air and then develops a crepey nature to it, the filler blows your balloon back up. The Botox simply inactivates muscles that are creating further lines.

Botox

Botox is injected into the muscles of the face to restrict their movement in order to prevent the skin from wrinkling. For example, a Botox injection can reduce the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes or prevent furrows that appear in the forehead, which are caused by overactive muscles.

Dermal Filler

A cosmetic filler such as Juvederm, Belotero, Radiesse or Voluma is injected deeper into the tissues to add volume to the area and support the overlying skin. Fillers are often used to add definition to cheekbones or jawline where skin has started to sag. They are also often used to fill deeper lines which may be caused by sagging skin and loss of elastic and collagen

When will I see Botox/Dermal Filler Results

While experiences vary per patient and by the specific cosmetic injection being used, patients may see immediate Dermal Filler Results and Botox results within 3 days following their treatment. However, Botox results usually take 7 to 10 days to reveal their full effects. With specific Dermal Fillers that also stimulate collagen, long lasting results may take a few months to manifest. During your free consultation, your cosmetic injections specialist will discuss when to expect your results depending on the specific cosmetic injection treatment you are receiving.

What can I expect during treatment ?

The practitioner will cleanse and prepare the area(s) to be treated. The clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid (filler) is injected into the treatment area(s) using an ultra-fine needle to create the desired aesthetic effect. The treatment typically takes less than one hour, but individual treatment times may vary.

How long does Botox last?

Botox uses a Neurotoxin to temporarily suspend muscles from performing the contractions that create dynamic wrinkling. While the longevity of Botox results varies by patient, most individuals enjoy the anti-aging results from Botox injections for 3 to 6 months. Botox results are easily replenished by a repeat treatment from HairVanish

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

The longevity of dermal filler results depends on the specific filler used. Juvederm, one of the most popular facial fillers can last up to 9 months. Results from Sculptra, another type of facial filler can last up to two years. During your free consultation, your cosmetic injection specialist will discuss the differences of each dermal filler and detail the expected longevity of your specific dermal filler results.
